The people at Christy got in touch to see if I wanted to write a post about a special woman in my life. They sent me this gorgeous pamper package of two fluffy bathrobes (embroidered with the initials of my choice!) and a bottle of champagne to share with that woman, as #MyGiftToHer.
I am lucky enough to have been able to surround myself with amazing women, who have been there for me every step of the way. Who inspire and encourage me, who make me laugh until my belly hurts and who support my many bonkers ideas and ventures. But of course it is my lovely mum that leads that tribe of women, and I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done for me. It goes without saying that I thank her for all she did for me whilst going through childhood, but what I am most grateful to her for is for guiding me through the stormy waters of the teen years and of course adulthood. Comforting me when I had my heart broken by a complete rat when I was 19; supporting my decision to move to Manchester at 21 to move in with a boyfriend and find my fortune(!); helping me to create the wedding of my dreams when I was 28. Guiding me through the complete baffling confusion of having my own baby at 30, and again at 32; helping me pick up the pieces of my life at 37 when my then husband broke my heart and the following inevitable implosion of our marriage. Helping me turn this dark, dirty and dingy house into my beloved home, and encouraging and supporting me when I made the decision to follow my dreams and go freelance last summer. What can I say, it’s been a wild ride!
By some complete miracle, and with a lot of help from my friends and family, we managed to steer my ship out of those murky waters, and here I am today, a woman who is beyond happy, who is independent and on (most) days feels like a lioness! I only hope I can be the same pillar of strength to my own daughter when she has to negotiate the same stormy waters. I think I can.
So, thank you Christy, not only for the lovely pamper package, but also for asking me to sit down and write this long overdue thank you to my mum. Mum looks at my blog and Instagram every day, but I’ve told her to not peek until Mother’s Day as I didn’t want to spoil the surprise! (Mum – we can have the champers next week when I see you! xx)
