Hello everyone!

I have been a busy bee since the last time I posted!  Not only have I spoken on stage with Annie Sloan at the Handmade Fair (more on that in another post – it was so much fun!), but my first monthly feature has come out in Reclaim Magazine (on the shelves now!) and I’ve also had a bit of a reshuffle of the gallery in my dining room.

I loved my pastel wall very much, but I fancied something a bit moodier and more striking for the Autumn and Winter months. (Which by the way, I am now very excited about embracing!  Candles, blankets, cushions, fairy lights, mugs of cocoa-yes!)  I have been adding to my collection of floral framed prints for the last year or so, and I particularly love the dark one in the middle, and I wanted to make that the centre of my gallery.

I know I need to have bit of a tinker with the heights of some of the pictures, but I’m so happy with how it looks.  Funnily enough, it makes the ceiling look taller too – I guess because the pictures go up quite high, it creates an optical illusion.  I found all of these prints at car boot fairs really cheaply, but you can find them in charity shops too.

It’s that time of year where I get a few big renovation jobs done around the house.  I am so excited to be finally replacing the rotten, single pane windows at the front of my house, and I am thinking of getting shutters for them once they are installed.  I’m also having Lola’s room replastered – my dad and I made good in her room when I moved in, as I needed to cut a few corners to get the rooms up to a decent standard for the children.  The lining paper we put up to cover on of the old walls has slowly been unpeeling, so I decided it was time to get it sorted!  My plasterer is also skimming the 1980’s artex on the landing, which means I will finally be able to decorate properly there.  I’m thinking of some crazy colourful wallpaper once it’s done!

I’ll post some snaps from the Handmade Fair this week, so please do pop back!
